High-reliability RF solutions for satellite communications payloads and ground systems

Satellite communications is one of the most demanding environments for RF semiconductors. Components must perform reliably across extreme temperature swings, survive radiation exposure in some orbital regimes, and maintain tight electrical specifications over mission lifetimes measured in years or decades. ATEK MIDAS designs RF ICs specifically for these requirements.

Applications

Our RF semiconductor expertise supports a broad range of satellite communications applications including satellite payloads (transponder amplifiers, frequency converters, switch matrices, and beam-forming networks operating from L-band through Ka-band and Q/V-band), earth station equipment (LNBs, BUCs, modem front-ends, and hub station transmit/receive chains), VSAT terminals, and mega-constellation ground links for high-throughput satellite (HTS) gateway and user terminal applications.

Technology

We leverage GaAs, GaN, and InP compound semiconductor processes to achieve the low-noise figures, high linearity, and high output power required by satellite applications. For space-qualified applications, we support screening and qualification flows including extended temperature ranges, burn-in, and radiation characterization. Our SatCom IC portfolio covers LNAs, VGAs, power amplifiers, switches, attenuators, phase shifters, and integrated transceiver front-ends.
